Tubing experts to attend India Nuclear New Build Congress in growing energy market

Superior Tube & Fine Tubes will be attending the India Nuclear New Build Congress 2015 in Mumbai, India from 8 – 9 June 2015.

The event, at which some 200 executives from across the global nuclear value chain are expected to be present, will provide us with an excellent opportunity to further raise our profile as leading global manufacturers of high precision tubing to the nuclear power sector in this fast-growing Indian market.

Through a three-stage development programme designed to achieve self-reliance through the use of domestic thorium resources, India plans to produce 20,000 MWe of energy from its nuclear sector by 2020 and 63,000 MWe by 2032. In the long term, it is planned that nuclear power will supply 25% of the country’s electricity by 2050.

Working with high performance stainless steel, zirconium, titanium and nickel alloys, both Fine Tubes and Superior Tube manufacture seamless, welded and Weldrawn© (manufactured by means of seam welding and cold working) tubing to the most stringent nuclear specifications, playing a major role in ensuring high quality, long life-cycles and safety in supercritical nuclear applications, including:

  • Primary and Field Instrumentation
  • Control Rod Drive Mechanisms
  • Fuel Cans or Cladding Tubes
  • Flux Thimble Guide Tubes
  • In-core Heat Exchangers
  • Steam generators

Offering over 150 years of combined engineering experience, we have consistently developed our product range in support of AGR, PWR, PHWR, LWR, BWR and FBR reactor technologies. Superior Tube and Fine Tubes have worked closely with the world’s prominent nuclear reactor suppliers to develop tubular solutions for both new builds and maintenance projects globally, including in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, France, India and China. Critical to the safe operation of nuclear reactors, our tubing has to withstand extreme temperatures, pressures and radiation.

Both the Fine Tubes (UK) and Superior Tube (USA) plants are capable of producing quality assured tubing compliant with the requirements of RCC-M, ASME QSC and NADCAP (Heat Treatment, NDT, Fusion Welding), and our metallurgical experts are ready to support you in developing competitive tubing solutions for your toughest technical challenges.

Our nuclear product range includes:

Stainless steel

304L, 316L

Nickel alloy

600, 625, 690, 800

Zirc 2 and Zirc 4

Ti CP - Grade 2

Superior Tube and Fine Tubes are collectively a unit of AMETEK Specialty Metal Products, a division of AMETEK, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices.
